For over twenty-five years, Dr. Jeremy Johnson has provided Consultancy services in Palliative Medicine.

Since its inception in 1989 up until 2013, Dr. Johnson served as the Medical Director for the Severn Hospice in the United Kingdom. The hospice provided high quality care for in-patients, day care, home care and hospital support through a well-trained multi-disciplinary team. Over the years, the hospice grew considerably and established bases in other parts of the UK. In 1998, Severn Hospice twinned with the Bangalore Hospice Trust.

Dr. Johnson’s main interests lie in hands-on clinical care, service development and delivery (local, regional and international), education and training and research in the areas of oncology, symptom control and analgesics with a focus on opioids and cannabinoids. Dr. Johnson has over 30 publications under his belt and has contributed to book chapters and teaching videos. He has also taught extensively in India.

In 2015, Dr. Johnson received the “Service above Self Award” which is the highest award in the Rotary Club; at the time, he was one of only three individuals to have received this award in the United Kingdom. In 2013, he was granted the accolade of the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for services to Palliative Medicine.

Dr. Johnson is currently the Editorial Advisory Board Member for the International Journal of Palliative Care: Research and Treatment and the Indian Journal of Palliative Care.
