Dr. Jeba is a Professor at the Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, India. Her years of service in Palliative Medicine specialty encompasses several facets of palliative care including assessing the palliative care needs of advanced cancer patients for pain and symptom management, psychosocial care and end-of-life care; referring patients for palliative care interventions/palliative chemotherapy and radiotherapy; communicating with patients and families on diagnosis, prognosis and goals of care and providing consultation for patients from other medical and surgical departments for palliative care needs.

Dr. Jeba has also enjoyed teaching Palliative Medicine to clinical fellows during the intensive one-year residential program; Ethical Issues in Cancer at the Good Clinical Practice Guidelines workshop held regularly at her institution and regularly teaches both undergraduate medical students and other postgraduate trainees in Radiation Oncology, Pulmonary Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Gynae-oncology during their rotational postings in Palliative Care.

During her time in the United Kingdom, Dr. Jeba had the opportunity to observe and learn from inpatient hospice and day care hospice services; the use of different opioids and newer drugs in symptom management. Her international exposure instilled an appreciation for the role of cultural differences within the practice of palliative care.

In 2008, Dr. Jeba was the joint recipient of the Cicely Saunders medal for the top student in the Diploma in Palliative Medicine from Cardiff University. Prior, in 2006, she received the Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue her MSc degree in Palliative Medicine.
