In education and healthcare, Ms. Sangeetha Murugan currently holds the position of Nursing Tutor at the Karunashraya Institute for Palliative Care Education and Research, affiliated with the Bangalore Hospice Trust, Karunashraya; she has not only nurtured the minds of aspiring nurses but has also contributed significantly to the advancement of Palliative Care Nursing in India being an ELNEC Trainer and course coordinator for various training programs.

Ms. Sangeetha Murugan obtained a B.SC in Nursing from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, in 2002, and subsequently an M.SC in Nursing from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka in 2011. She then pursued a National Fellowship in Palliative Nursing from the Institute of Palliative Medicine, Calicut in 2018, followed by her Lantern Model Program in EOLC Nursing – UK from St. Christopher’s Hospice in 2023. Ms. Sangeetha is moreover a Ph.D. Scholar from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. Ms. Sangeetha has completed several certified courses during her career journey in Nursing.

Sangeetha’ Career Journey began as a Staff Nurse, and she decided to share knowledge, which led her to take on the role of a Lecturer and become a professor further cementing her reputation as a transformative educator. As a Nursing tutor at the Karunashraya Institute for Palliative Care Education and Research, she is Responsible for training and nurturing a cadre of nurses; she has been instrumental in shaping compassionate and competent Nursing professionals. Her relentless efforts led to the establishment of affiliation for the Nursing Assistant training program.

Ms. Sangeetha has numerous awards under her belt which to name just a few include an International Award for Excellence in Palliative Care – 2022 to 2023 received on 10th February 2023 at the 30th Annual International Conference of the Indian Association of Palliative Care 2023; a Best Nurse Award from Apollo Hospital, Chennai; an Academic National Level Topper in National Fellowship in Palliative Care Nursing; and an Outstanding Performance Award in Psychiatric Nursing Care.
