His First Walk Outdoors
“Mr. Jitendra appeared happy and relaxed. Before we returned, he promised to go on more walks both with his family and with us.”

Our 81-year-old patient, Mr. Jitendra, enrolled in our care on 8th July 2025. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer with nodal metastases.
Mr. Jitendra shared that the last time he had stepped outdoors was in mid-August, and that too was just for a hospital visit. Since then, he had been largely bedbound, dealing with several complications including urinary infections, bleeding, pain, lower limb swelling, disorientation, emotional outbursts, and general distress.
The PALCARE team set out to work closely with him and his family. The team nurse, played a key role in supporting the family, especially by guiding his daughter on proper catheter care. Over time, we were able to bring all his symptoms under control.
Mr. Jitendra now looks forward to our visits and enjoys engaging in conversations with us. Over the past two weeks, we’ve observed a remarkable shift in his overall health and well-being. He has become more active and mobile – sitting at the table for meals, walking around his apartment, expressing himself more openly, and showing renewed energy. He often asks when we’ll be visiting again and fondly enquires about Miral and Riya (PALCARE’s two counsellors who are fluent in Gujarati), especially appreciating being able to speak in Gujarati with them.
Although his family has been encouraging him to step outside for a walk, he remained hesitant and would usually decline. On 25th September 2025, the PALCARE Counsellor gently asked if he’d like to go for a walk with him. After a moment’s pause, he agreed.
And so, here we are, taking a walk in his building society. Mr. Jitendra appeared happy and relaxed. Before we returned, he promised to go on more walks both with his family and with us.
